Fighting Canine Cancer.
My name is Petunia. I am a Boston Terrier and I am about 7 years old. One day I got lost and was picked up during a stroll down the road. I ended up at the Boston Terrier Rescue of North Carolina (
http://btrnc.org/). I got to go home with a new family until someone adopted me. I really liked my new family so I turned on all my charm until they could resist me no more and were forced to adopt me themselves! I have had so much fun with my new family. We go camping, riding in the car, shopping, they even bought me and my sisters doggie strollers just in case we get sleepy and don't want to walk anymore. Recently I have not been feeling so well though. I got a bump on my butt that started to grow. My mommy took me to the vet and they said everything was OK, gave me my yearly shots and sent me home. My mommy kept talking about how my butt kept getting bigger. She took me back to the vet 3 weeks later and they said I have something called Mast Cell Cancer. They took the bump off my butt a week later and sent it away someplace. They called my mommy a few days later and told her I was age 3. I told my mommy I thought I was 7 and she said she knew I was age 7 but the bump they took off my butt was stage 3 cancer not age 3. I go to see the vet every week now. The vet said I have to have Chemo and Radiation so that my butt doesn't get big again. (The things a girl must do to keep her figure) So far I have had one Chemo treatment and I start Radiation this week. They told me that I have to stay with the Vet people during the week like boarding school and I get to come home every weekend. I don't think I am going to like this. I will miss my mommy. I will keep you posted on how I'm doing. Will you wish me well?
Hang in there Petunia!!!
